UnlockU is led by Dawn Tang, a UBC Sauder School of Business student and Scholarship Development Ambassador at UBC. Having been awarded over $200,000 in major entrance scholarships, including UBC’s $80,000 Presidential Scholarship, Dawn has closely studied the profiles of top scholarship recipients across Canada and the United States. A clear and consistent pattern emerges: almost without exception, these students have built something of their own, a business or a non-profit with real structure, leadership, and impact.
As the founder of Zonos Eyewear and two provincially recognized non-profits, Dawn brings firsthand experience navigating the university application and scholarship selection process. Through UnlockU, she works alongside UBC professors and top scholarship recipients to guide students through the same strategic frameworks and decision-making processes that significantly strengthen applications and increase the likelihood of admission to highly competitive universities.
