About the Scholarship
Each year, UnlockU offers a $10,000 scholarship in direct financial support to help students pursue their post-secondary education.
This scholarship is designed for motivated students who demonstrate initiative, leadership, and a clear commitment to building meaningful impact through their academic and extracurricular paths.
While UnlockU students and students joining the upcoming Spring cohort receive priority consideration, the scholarship is open to all eligible applicants, regardless of program enrollment.

Total award value: $10,000
Funds may be applied toward tuition, academic fees, or educational expenses at a recognized post-secondary institution
Important Dates
- Application deadline: February 28, 2026
- Priority consideration: Past UnlockU students and students enrolled in the Spring cohort
- Recipient notification: May 2026
Eligibility
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- High school students currently enrolled in a BC high school (Grades 8–12)
- Currently enrolled in or planning to enroll in a Canadian post-secondary institution
- Demonstrate strong motivation, leadership potential, and long-term goals
Application Requirements
To apply, students must submit the following:
1. Written Statement
A short essay responding to the prompt below (recommended length: 500–700 words):
Why should you be selected for the UnlockU Education Scholarship?
Your response may include:
- Academic achievements
- Leadership or volunteer experiences
- Personal or community initiatives
- Career aspirations
- Values and motivations
2. Reference Contact Information
- Applicants must provide one reference contact (name, relationship, and contact information).
- We may contact references at our discretion
- No reference letter is required
